What you can do if we cannot resolve your complaint internally

The Legal Ombudsman (LeO)

The Legal Ombudsman (LeO) can help you if we are unable to resolve your compliant ourselves. They will look at your complaint independently and it will not affect how we handle your case.

Before accepting a complaint for investigation, the Legal Ombudsman will check that you have tried to resolve your complaint with us first. Please refer to our Comlaint Policy. If you have and we have not resolved the complaint to your satisfaction, then you must take your complaint to the Legal Ombudsman:

Normally, you will need to bring a complaint to the Legal Ombudsman within 6 months of receiving a final written response from us about your complaint and within the following timescales

    • No later than one year from the date of the act or omission about which you are complaining occurring; or
    • No later than one year from the date when you should reasonably have known there were grounds for complaint.

Alternative dispute resolution (ADR) bodies exist which are competent to deal with complaints about legal services should both you and our practice wish to use such a scheme. We have, however, chosen not to adopt an ADR process. If, therefore, you wish to complain further, you should contact the Legal Ombudsman
